A new gym has opened it’s doors in Huskisson. The Hub Performance Centre, founded by Neridah and Amy, is a strength and conditioning gym built on a simple but often overlooked idea: movement is better when it’s shared, supported and designed to last.
While The Hub has clear performance credentials and draws some inspiration from the global HYROX movement, it is not a race gym, nor is it built for elite athletes alone. Instead, it offers structured, coached training for everyday people who want to feel stronger, move better and stay consistent over time.
“We don’t program for elite athletes. We program for the everyday athlete and then we scale it appropriately.”
The Hub’s training programs are written by respected US-based coaches Anthony Peressini and Lauren Weeks. Their programming is structured and intentional, but flexible by design. Sessions can be dialled up or scaled back depending on age, experience, confidence and capacity – that means that all classes are accessible for all.
What truly sets The Hub apart isn’t just the programming, it’s the ethos. From the outset, the focus has been on building a space where people feel welcome, supported and comfortable showing up as they are. Many sessions are partner-based, encouraging accountability, shared effort and connection.
“Success is better shared. And it means that on the days you can only give 40%, someone else has your back.”
In response to growing interest from the community, The Hub is launching a dedicated 50+ strength and conditioning class, designed by co-owner Amy, an exercise physiologist. The program mirrors the same movements and principles used across the gym, with thoughtful scaling and expert oversight.
“It’s not about slowing people down. It’s about giving them the right structure and support to keep training well.”
Further into the conversation, Neridah, known to most as Ned, shares a personal history shaped by endurance sport, including ultra-distance cycling events such as Race Across America. A serious crash during one race reinforced a philosophy now embedded in The Hub: strength is about resilience, adaptability and longevity. As a registered nurse of over 30 years, Ned also knows how functional fitness is not only important for everyday athletes, but for longevity and living your best life in later years.
“I’ve always loved sport, but what matters now is helping people keep moving not just for now, but long term.”
At its core, The Hub Performance Centre is about connection. It’s a place where people come to move, but also to belong, offering the Jervis Bay & Basin community a strength and conditioning space that balances performance with a genuine desire to bring people together – no matter their age or ability.
Curious about whether The Hub Performance Centre is the right fit for you? Ned, Amy and the coaching team welcome locals to get in touch, ask questions and experience a session before making any commitments. For more information on class times and membership options go to their website.
